Who am I?
Hello there!
I'm Imogen Wernick, a filmmaker driven by a lifelong passion for the captivating world of film and TV. Having completed my Bachelor's in Film and Screen Media Production from Griffith Film School, I proudly received the 'Best Production Design' award in 2023 for my graduation project, 'Portions for Foxes,' set in the enchanting backdrop of 1600s England. Collaborating with an incredible directing team and navigating a tight budget, we not only brought our vision to life but exceeded expectations, winning 'Best Overall Film' along with several other accolades.
While Production Design holds a special place in my heart, my love for filmmaking extends beyond it. I find immense joy in storytelling through creative editing. A testament to this is my role as an co-editor and assistant director for a project at the Vision Splendid Outback Film Festival in Winton, Australia. Crafted entirely within a week, the short film showcased the collaborative efforts of the Winton community, where most of the cast were town residents who auditioned to be part of our film.
My journey at Griffith offered abundant opportunities to hone my craft, particularly through classes like Production Design 1 & 2. Engaging in practical projects, I learned to conceptualize designs, create plans, and bring them to life. One notable venture involved my team crafting a 1960s London flat, complete with bright orange walls, showcasing our ability to apply the tools and techniques taught in class.
Being a fervent history enthusiast, my passion shines through when crafting period pieces like 'Portions for Foxes.' However, my love for storytelling extends across diverse genres and narratives. I've delved into projects spanning horror, coming of age, drama, mystery, and more, and I'm eager to explore even further in the future.
Throughout all of my projects I have picked up quite a few skills along the way. Whether it's sewing, carpentry, painting, designing and constructing sets, set dressing, props management and continuity or other ventures, I've worn many hats. Leading a production design team, managing budgets, and sourcing/making various props and set pieces are all in a day's work for me. I'm always eager to acquire new skills to enhance the creative process on any set. Looking forward to weaving more stories and creating cinematic magic in the future!
